A caustic tongue specializes in slicing, dicing, tearing down the personality, actions, plans, goals of others. Destructive and non-constructive criticism is the hallmark of such an individual possessing such a language. It has been argued that caustic tongues are more apparent in women, perhaps due to their natural tendencies to love gossip, bitches, and feasting on details rather than the short, direct demeanor of their male counterparts. However, despite the formula of brevity adopted by the men, a good number of them intermittently unleash the caustic poison of their tongues.
Naturally, language allows us to communicate effectively with others. Human beings find themselves in various situations, some good, some bad, and some ugly. The ability to know what to say, when and how to say it does not exist in the vocabulary of those with caustic tongues. Sometimes they show a cold and hard outlook, but they internally deal with emotional turmoil, envy, a subtle inferiority complex, they never see the good in what others do or want to do, and some other vices. They are naturally on the offensive and easily put people around them down. “here comes the joy killer” becomes an anthem sung by friends/colleagues.
A tongue can be a weapon of mass destruction and light a great fire. It has been the only tool responsible for breaking relationships, marriages, frustrating dreams, making one feel useless, hopeless and inferior to others. Those with caustic tongues must learn when to close their lips and not just talk because they want to. Throwing civility overboard is their norm, and sometimes believing that by being down to earth from their perspective, they will be convinced of their views bluntly. If you are a victim of caustic fever, you must learn to put a clip on your tongue, because one day you will need someone around to say the right things that will ease the pain and you may never find anyone!
