It is ranked as the fifth worst city for sports fans to live in. Seattle has the Seahawks, who have never played in a Super Bowl and have only been to the dance once. The Seattle Super Sonics (oh wait, they moved!) and the Seattle Mariners. We have other teams, but nobody cares about the Seattle Storm or whatever our hockey team is called. If you’re a sports fan, I’ll give you a few reasons why you should
Be careful moving to Seattle.

Seahawks
We’ll call the Seahawks the best of the bad. Prior to 2005, the Seahawks had the longest playoff winning drought of any NFL team, dating back to the 1984 season. It hurts when you have great seasons in the last 10 years but never finish. It’s like the unprecedented Braves, 14 division titles in 15 years and no rings, but worse. They have been better of late getting to 2 NFC championship games in the last 4 years. But like most Seattle teams, they drowned. One great thing about the Seahawks is Qwest Field. I’m not sure what Paul Allen did to make the stadium so lively and loud, but it’s a fun outing on a Sunday morning.

sailors
We will call the sailors the merchants. We must call them that because of the horrible top management and business decisions. I can remember the days of Griffey, Edgar, Buhner and Rodriguez. Only to see them disappear in 3 years due to bad business decisions. I don’t question age or injuries, but I do question the managers’ thought process when Richie Sexson stays on the team hitting $189. Beltre is one of the highest-paid third basemen in the game, but he can’t hit the wide side of a barn. In 2001, the Mariners made history by tying the winningest season in baseball history with 116, only to lose in the first round of the playoffs. To be a Mariners fan, you have to dig deep to find your soul. It’s set in 1995, Game 5 of the Division Series when Edgar hits a game-winner to drive in Griffey. If you can remember those days, you’ll still have Mariner blood. Until then stay away from the games because it’s ugly.

sonic
We’ll call the Sonics dead. Since 2006, the city of Seattle could see Key Arena and Supersonics fade away. We got to watch Kevin For an entire season and see the young Ridnour develop into a good point guard, but Supersonics Howard Schultz was depleted. He was tired of the city, the arena and the bureaucracy. I do not blame him. Even if the jetsonics had stayed, they still would have sucked. This is depressing in his way. Goodbye Supersonics, we loved them for a while and then we didn’t care. The Sonics’ obituary reads: They never fought and only ran away; they were bought by a red neck head. Thanks Clay Bennett for ruining Seattle basketball.

I have sold my feelings on Seattle sports. It’s great to live in this beautiful city. The Northwest is beautiful and there is much to be caught up in. Just stay away from the stadiums and the subway, because Seattle Sports will only disappoint you.
