The new album of the Russian band “Tokyo” is the third in a discography of the team, its name was not accidental: in each composition of this release, except for “Schizophrenia of the world”, the word “love” was found. “Love is not simply a relationship between a man and a woman, but above all the feeling we feel for each other in this world,” Tokyo leader Jaroslav Maly said.
Work on the record took about three years. It was recorded in the studios of several countries: Russia, Great Britain, France and Portugal. The 11 songs included in the CD have been very diverse. “We’ve put together some styles and trends, from guitar-trance and techno to rock ballads and lyrical tracks,” he assessed the sound of his new team-leading work.
The first single from the album was the song “Catch Up”, which became the soundtrack for the cult game “Need For Speed” and was released in 80 countries around the world. The clip, shot in Kyiv, was the result of a creative alliance of Tokyo, the popular Ukrainian band “Drugarika” and director Victor Skuratovsky. In addition, this CD includes the film about the group: “The stars are here and now”. Tokyo Drivers of love”.
Together with the group “Catch Up” he intends to film two songs: “I Choose Love” and “Icebreaker Hope”.
The launch cover design was done by Yaroslav’s 14-year-old daughter Jana. “She saw a group from Tokyo as four people with one face, but with different tones. And when we are on the cover of the house, we see endless people with one face and different tones. We are all connected to each other – this understands even small children.”
The recording of the material lasted three years, the musicians worked in different parts of the world, collaborated with artists of different genres, so the songs were very diverse. The participation of session musicians, combining guitars, techno, rock and poetry has given a new meaning to music.
Now the Tokio band plans to create clips for other songs, promising that these videos would be really spectacular: military equipment will be involved, about which the actors are in talks with the Ministry of Defense.
The Tokio band became famous after participating in the “Maksidroom-2003” festival. Tokyo was awarded the title of “top music find” of the year. And his songs “The Star”, “Snow” and “Heart” confidently find themselves in the first lines of the charts. Today the Tokio group has two albums to its credit, the third one is already being prepared and will be released in two versions: in English and in Russian.
