Preparation. If you intend to try something new for the Christmas or New Years party, we recommend that you do a test before the event on a quiet night, just to check that the colors chosen work with your skin tone, the hairstyles hold up and In general, give him some practice with his overall appearance. Why not invite a friend over for a ‘party rehearsal’? You can have a lot of fun together and avoid last minute panic on your big night.
Party makeup. This time of year you can have a lot of fun doing your makeup, introducing sparkle and shine to your look. Try smoky eyes and nude, glossy lips or go for festive gold or seasonal silver—the options are endless. If you like to stick with your usual look, why not add a dot of glitter and blend it in the center of your upper lids? It will really open your eyes. Similarly, a dab of gloss in the center of your lower lip will emphasize your pout. Have fun with your makeup by trying something new, but don’t go too far and end up looking like a drag queen—unless that’s the look you’re going for, of course!
Party hair. Your hair can really add to your look, so make the most of it with braids, quiffs, or a fabulous up-do. Ask a hairstylist for ideas when choosing your next cut or color and try something new. Choose some of the pretty accessories that are available, they can provide an easy way to brighten up your hairstyle. We wouldn’t recommend a last minute home dye, it may have worked for Cheryl Cole, but that’s no guarantee it will work for you. If you’re toying with the idea of a color change, always think twice and go to a professional colorist.
Shoes. Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t wear pretty heels, just make sure you have organized lifts both to and from the venue, and please put on your new shoes before you head out for the night. This season’s trends include buckled and lace-up shoes, small heels and wedges. Our favorite party shoe look is all about the recent velvet obsession. If you can find a pair of velvet heels, they will really add a touch of modern glam to your outfit. Embellished shoes also look pretty for Christmas and New Year parties; think gemstones, mirrors, crystals, and even feathers and bows.
Dresses. Gold and red dresses work great over the Christmas period, but if these colors aren’t for you, you can try anything with a little sequin detail, or dress your LBT up in some gorgeous jewelry or a faux fur wrap.
