The official name of the club is Arsenal Football Club, or Arsenal FC. It is usually known simply as Arsenal, or by its nickname, the Gunners.

The club’s registered office is in Drayton Park, London, and was founded in 1886, and was known as Dial Square, at the time of its founding.

Arsenal’s home ground is the recently built Emirates Stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 spectators.

The club’s owners are Arsenal Holdings plc and the chairman is Peter Hill-Wood. The players are coached by coach Arsene Wenger, a Frenchman.

The team is made up of the following players: Almunia, Clichy, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Diaby, Nasri, Eboue, Sagna, Wilshere, Arshavin, Chamakh, Fabianski, Rosicky, Robbie van Persie, Vela, Walcott, Song and Gibbs.

The new signings this season are Chamakh and Koscielny, while the players who have left are Gallas, Eduardo and Sol Campbell.

Arsenal have won 13 top division titles in English football, including 3 Premier League titles, the last in 2003-04.

In their first match of the 2010–11 EPL on 14 August, Arsenal faced Liverpool and the match ended in a draw, fortuitously for Arsenal, in the 90th minute, following a goalkeeping error by Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, which resulted in an own goal.

Preseason Preview

Arsenal’s summer has been dominated by the Cesc Fabregas story. Speculation over whether or not the Spain star would say goodbye to the club has continued until the week before the start of the Premier League.

But now there is no doubt that Fabregas will remain at Arsenal, although it may not be for more than a year, and is unlikely to be for five years, as club manager Arsene Wenger has claimed.

The other Arsenal players seem excited by Fabregas’ decision to continue with the club, as this year, Arsenal look like a great prospect for the League title.

The last trophy the club won was in 2005, when they lifted the FA Cup.

Dutchman Robin van Persie could be the man to help Arsenal break their title drought. Following in the tradition of his predecessors at the club, Thierry Henry and Ian Wright, Van Persie’s goal scoring is crucial to the club’s success.

As long as the striker stays fit, opposing defenses will shudder at the prospect of playing him.

England manager Fabio Capello has selected teenager Jack Wilshere to play for the national team. Clearly the youngster has a bright future ahead of him, and the current Premier League season could play a big part in turning Wiltshere into a competent international.

Whenever Wiltshere starts for Arsenal, he will be the center of attention for those trying to assess his potential as a future England player.

Arsene Wenger is clearly aware that this could be Fabregas’s last year with the club, and he wants to ensure he has the weapons to turn the championship dream into reality.

He rushed to sign Marouane Chamakh, a few days after the transfer window opened. Another big buy is defender Laurent Koscielny.

Eduardo, William Gallas and Sol Campbell, players who have left, are defeated. Eduardo, in particular, broke his leg three years ago and has yet to fully recover.

Arsenal will always be in the count without winning the title. They will give the leaders a run for their money, and in the last month they will probably be fighting for a place in the top four and a Champions League contention.

And that’s a goal that I think the Gunners will surely achieve.
