If you’re looking for an Xbox 360 repair, check out these 4 common problems and how to fix them.

Problem: Error E74/one red light

Cause: Scaler chip/general hardware failure

Solution: Try turning the console off and disconnecting all cables, then turning it back on and connecting again. Then try turning off the console and disconnecting all accessories (memory cards, controllers, hard drive) and reconnecting.

This should tell you if it is the console or the accessories that are having the problem. If it’s the console, you’ll need to submit a repair request to Microsoft.

Problem: Two red lights

Cause: Overheating

Solution: Turn off the console for a while to cool down. Submit a repair request if you are still under warranty; if not, clean the console inside and out. Warning: this will void the warranty!

Problem: Red Ring of Death/Three Red Lights

Cause: General hardware failure

Solution: Try turning everything off and unplugging like error E74 and let the console cool down for a few hours. If this doesn’t work, you may need to submit a repair request.

Problem: Four red lights

Cause: Loose AV cable/AV cable not detected

Solution: Disconnect the AV cable and reconnect it. Make sure it is fully inserted so that most of the cable is almost touching the console.

Hopefully these Xbox 360 repair tips will get you up and running without a call to Microsoft repairs. Remember: prevention is better than cure, always keep your console in a well-ventilated and dust-free area to prevent overheating.
