Remember, when you accelerate your car, when you increase speed, your fuel economy decreases exponentially. To maximize your fuel savings, remember to apply gas sparingly, as engines require the most fuel when accelerating from a complete stop.

2. Check tire pressure frequently and expect good fuel economy. Buy a reliable tire gauge and have your tires checked at least once a month.

3. Avoid hard braking as it is just as bad for your fuel economy.

4. Use the type of fuel recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle.

5. Try to avoid driving during rush hours; constant starting, stopping and idling affect fuel economy.

6. If you are driving an automatic car, throttle moderately so that the transmission shifts to higher speeds. In the case of a manual car, you should shift early to keep the revs low, but don’t drag the engine, and remember to downshift if you need to accelerate.

7. Check your air filter, as a dirty air filter restricts air flow to the engine, impairing performance and fuel economy.

8. Avoid traveling at high speeds as your car’s speed increases, its aerodynamic drag increases exponentially; this will again affect your fuel economy.

9. If possible, you should avoid roof racks. It takes about a quarter of each gallon of gasoline to overcome wind resistance, so avoid carrying things on the roof.

10. And yes, drive with the air conditioning turned off. This will help to substantially improve your fuel economy.

Test it. I’ve been consciously practicing the above 10 tips and by the way, if you want to save more money on your purchases, remember to look for discount coupons or incentive purchases; A little effort on your part will help you save in the long run.
