Tiger Woods PGA Tour has been a successful series in the video game industry for a long time. One of the best golf games in the world. The company responsible for the franchise is the American Electronic Arts. [E.A] games. Every year they put out a follow-up to the latest game. This makes me think a bit because I think they could make better games if they spent more time making them.

This latest version is somewhat disappointing as the game is pretty much the same as Tiger Woods 07 but with a few extras. Graphically there have been some improvements, like the trees, the grass and the people, everything looks a bit sharper and full of color. The controls are the same as before, where you used the analog stick to swing the golf club and tapped a button to generate spin and power.

You start your career as a Tiger Woods rookie or a created golfer with limited skills. You get better skills to beat other opponents and climb up the racing table. Because your golfer is crap to begin with, you’ll find the first dozen games long and difficult. But things get a little better when you’ve gained some skills. The game rewards your efforts by giving you cash for completing challenges and matches. You can then use this money to buy new golf clubs, hats, gloves, balls, clothes, all kinds of things.

Before starting your career, you must create your own set of players and choose their attributes. You can also upload your best or funniest shots to the EA Sports Gamer Network. This allows people from all over the world to see your shots. This is a nice little extra that wasn’t in the previous games. Multiplayer kicks things up a notch with match play. The game is riddled with glitches with golfers disappearing and a tree appearing in the background. This is not what you expect from a so-called next-gen game!

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 isn’t the best of the series by far, after playing the Nintendo Wii version of Tiger Woods 07, this didn’t really impress me. It always seems to me that EA has a habit of taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back, I would say that only every 1/3 of the games they release are better than the previous one. However, this is still an easy golf game for beginners. If you’re new to Tiger Woods games, it’s probably worth checking out, but if you’ve got Tiger Woods 07, I’d stick with that. The game costs around $40 at all good game stores.
