I’ve gathered some ordinary items you might find around your home, your vacation spot, or carry in your bag or on your person that you can use as a weapon to defend yourself against an attacker. Before we start talking about these common items as weapons, I’ll teach you basic stance and blocking. For the pose, open your legs about hip-width apart and bend your legs for more balance. Tuck your tailbone under you, rolling your lower hips and pelvic bone forward. That way he won’t be able to take you down so easily. A block is when you stop someone’s punch or strike. Whenever you grasp an object with one hand, with your other arm and fist, you will hold your arm and fist protectively over your head and face. When you punch, you will keep your hand and fist up. Your arm is straight and not bent.

There are several reasons to keep a lock guard arm. The first is psychological. An attacker is looking to intimidate you fast. He also looks for an easy target, to get what he wants quickly. When you’re in a defensive posture, he’ll quickly think twice because you don’t look like an easy, defenseless target. The second reason is that you are actually covering your face and head from his view. You’re blocking his view of where to attack you first. But you can see it under your arm. You have an advantage. The other, more critical reason is that he could attack first with everything he has. A block will deflect much of the power of the blow. It is better to insult your arm than your head or your face. A locking arm can also be used to push it back.

If you hit him hard enough in a vulnerable spot, he could fall forward and hit you with his head or body. It’s better for him to make contact with your blocking arm than your head, and he won’t be able to catch you as he falls. The other reason, if he has a weapon, he’ll attack you head first, because he thinks that’s the quickest way to intimidate you and gain control. If it hits you on the head with something hard, you’re going to be dazed. Use your arm to block early on and you’ll have a better chance of defending yourself. Lastly, a blocking arm can immediately turn into a punch.

Here are some common items that can be used as a weapon: A purse or bag that could include a backpackgold Messenger bag, cell phone, hairbrushaerosol spray bottle, penlittle umbrella, heel of your shoe, newspaper gold magazine which will roll up

We are going to go through all of these items to teach you how to use these common items to your advantage against an attacker. I would also like you to point out that one important weapon is missing, and it is deliberately missing, and that is KNIVES. The reason for this is very simple. It’s about a obvious dangerous weapon that your attacker will definitely use against you if given the chance. So I want to show you how to use common items that your attacker won’t suspect as weapons and can hurt you. A knife or any weapon is an absolute last resort for defense!

You don’t want to give your attacker any ideas or deadly weapons that could turn on you. Bringing a knife to any confrontation escalates the confrontation to a potential lethal fight. Frankly, you don’t want to survive a horrifying attempted sexual assault or violent attack and then have a harrowing legal battle to defend your choice to use a knife. If you killed a man with a knife, the court may not consider it self-defense. If you knocked out a guy with a bowl from your cabinet, they definitely see it as self-defense.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but this is how the legal system can view the use of a deadly weapon like a knife or a gun. It is the last resort.

So let’s start now. A heavy purse or bag will be a very effective weapon. The area you are going to hit with a bag is the muzzle or nose. Push or hit the bag right between her legs. If you can do it multiple times, do it with as much force as you can. If you have long straps, you should hold the purse very close to the bag, as the straps can break and then you lose the purse or bag and all the contents in it. If it’s a heavy bag, it can be a bit unwieldy. You will maneuver the bag between you and him, in a defense block. This is what I would do to start.

If you have the bag crossbody, if you have it slung over one shoulder, I would maneuver in front of you, don’t waste time taking it crossbody. If he is trying to hit you, you can grab the bag and hit him hard on the nose, this is a great block. Also, if he comes at you with a more lethal weapon, which could pierce your skin or stab you, you can put your bag between him and your body to protect yourself from the weapon. It is better for a knife or pointed weapon to hit your bag rather than pierce a vital organ or cause serious damage. You can do this with a few different types of bags, purses, or backpacks.

A cell phone. Obviously, one of the best aids a phone can give you is your ability to call for help. However, you should keep in mind that you can actually use it as an effective weapon. It is hard, durable and compact. You have it at home, and usually on your person, or in your bag. You are going to take it in your hand as if you were holding a water bottle and you are going to hit hard on the attacker’s snout, right between his legs.

Move forcefully towards his muzzle. If you can hit it multiple times, aim for the muzzle, over and over again. Hey, guess what, you can always get a new phone! If he attacks from behind, swing the phone down and towards his muzzle. Even though he can attack you from behind, you will still have your arm raised on a defensive block. One moment he may be attacking from behind and a moment later he is attacking you from the front, so keep your blocking arm, he’s still up and done. If you need a follow up punch, your blocking arm is ready to attack.

Also, if it’s in front of you, and it’s too tight, and you don’t have room to swing it, hold the phone with both hands by the ends if you can and slam the phone directly against its nose. Hit him multiple times if you can handle it. Hit him hard on the eardrum. If you hold the phone with one hand, the other arm is raised as a lock arm. Last resort, take a shot straight to the side of his head in the (temple area). That will hurt. If you still have your phone after all that and it still works, keep it while you run and call for help.

my next article is a hairbrush. Brushes come in many sizes and shapes, some with handles and some without. If you can grip a brush without too much difficulty, the brush would make a great weapon, one with a handle can be easy to grip. It can hit you in the muzzle, nose, kneecap, or the side of the head (temple area), or eardrum. For discussion, suppose we are punching or hitting some of the vulnerable points on the body, the groin, nose, ears, eyes, side of the head, and kneecaps.

When you hit the muzzle with a hairbrush, it’s a direct blow to the muzzle, or back and down or up into his scrotum. You can use the back or the side of the bristles to swing up, just as if you were swinging a paddle. You can smash it on his nose or cut it straight down on his nose. You can make a direct shot in the temple or in the ear. Another vulnerable spot is your kneecap. You would swing him firmly down like you’re swinging a ping pong paddle, over his knee with the back of the brush. It may break, but that’s okay, let’s go to the next one. How hard can you hit with a brush? See for yourself. Take your brush and hit the back against a hard surface like a chair, imagine if this was the attacker’s kneecap.

Now that I’ve mentioned the hairbrush, I also wanted to mention the hair comb or embellished sticks that which can hold the hair. You will use it in a stabbing motion. That goes into the eye or snout.

Spray bottle or can. Very simple. Spray it in her eyes. She would also use the spray can as the hairbrush and swing it up or down on her muzzle. You have to be very careful with an aerosol can, because under pressure it could explode.

A pen or pencil. Use a pen or pencil in a stabbing motion. You can aim for the eyes, the muzzle, or the side of the neck this way. Keep the lock arm up and go.

Small umbrella. This is a small, compact and lightweight “club”. The muzzle is the best target for this. Turn up or down on the muzzle; use the end and make a straight line across its muzzle

You can also open the umbrella in his face and, with his eyes temporarily blocked, kick or knee him in the muzzle. When he finally gets the umbrella out of his face, you can punch him in the nose. I’m pretty sure you won’t expect that. Another effective way to use an umbrella is to block an intended punch or strike. You can use the closed umbrella to hit his wrist if he lunges at you with a weapon. Keep your lock arm ready and up.

heel of your shoe Step on the top of his foot. Kick his heel back into his muzzle if he’s trying to grab you from behind. Front kick to its muzzle or kneecap. If you’re on the ground and you can reach his face, kick him in the face. If your heel breaks in the fight, or you have a broken heel, from a previous party, stab down as you did with the feather. Muzzle, or eye if it can reach. If you don’t have the shoe but the shoe and heel are still inside, take the shoe in your hand and cut down with the high heel exposed.

With a good solid heel, whether high heeled or not, or a good solid walking shoe; a good kick to the shin, kneecap, or groin is a very painful and effective blow. If you have teenagers or young children, teach them about shoes. The school uniform usually comes equipped with a matching sturdy dress shoe.

Newspaper or magazine. Both the newspaper and the magazine look very ordinary. It is not like this? Here we have O magazine and The New York Times newspaper. If you use them correctly, they can also be a surprisingly effective weapon. By rolling up the newspaper or magazine, you now have a strong, lightweight club. You can use this as a club just like you did with the umbrella. The vulnerable points are the muzzle and nose. A hard slap or punch motion to the nose and a shoving motion with the rolled up magazine or newspaper in the groin. You can use this to block a blow or bring it down hard on your wrist while moving out of the way. Hold the rolled-up newspaper or magazines with one or both hands and tuck it into the muzzle. Hit him hard on his wrist like a block.

These common items you probably have in your purse or have ever carried your favorite magazine. Knowing that you can make weapons out of common items gives you an advantage. If you are under attack, you have resources. Common items like the ones I’ve described above, won’t be seen as a weapon by your attacker. Now you will have the element of surprise. I hope none of you reading will be attacked. But be prepared, and things will go better if it happens. Good luck.
