An effective cure for pneumonia is the use of additional vitamins and minerals in your diet. The right nutrients can boost your immunity, ease your symptoms, and prevent further complications.

Vitamin C

High doses of vitamin C is a fast-acting pneumonia cure, especially if taken at the first sign of infection. I recommend my patients take 500 mg of vitamin C per hour until their tissues are saturated with vitamin C. At the point where the body is saturated with vitamin C, any excess is shed in the urine and feces, causing loose or watery stools. This point is called intestinal tolerance.

Once you have calculated your intestinal tolerance level, go just below this point daily until the infection clears your body.

Some people only need 5,000 – 10,000 mg to achieve tissue saturation and intestinal tolerance. Others may need 50,000 mg or more to get to this point. As you improve, you should notice your intestinal tolerance level drop.

Zinc

Zinc is a powerful pneumonia cure that increases white blood cells and the production of antibodies to fight infection. If you have a sore or swollen throat, dissolving a zinc lozenge or tablet in your mouth can provide quick relief.

Vitamin A / Beta-carotene

Vitamin A and its precursor beta-carotene can heal damaged epithelial tissue and quell free radical damage. Vitamin A has also been shown to reduce the rate of infections, making it a good preventative nutrient.

Selenium

Selenium is an excellent immune stimulant. It also improves the absorption of vitamin E, an important antioxidant.

B vitamins

Fatigue and exhaustion are common symptoms of infection. To help with energy levels and nerve health, a balanced B complex is an effective cure for pneumonia.

Magnesium

Magnesium acts as a muscle relaxant that can soothe sore lungs and tense muscles, as well as help you get a good night’s sleep. Magnesium can also be absorbed through the skin in an Epsom salt bath. Simply soak in a warm bath to which you have added a couple of cups of Epsom salts. Relax in the bath for at least 20 minutes before going to sleep. You should sleep soundly and wake up feeling refreshed.

The correct dosage of these nutrients will vary depending on your age, the severity of your infection, and your activity levels.
