Bangladesh is a small country in Southeast Asia. It was formerly part of the Indian subcontinent. Later, after the division of India by the British ruler, it was united with Pakistan and took the name of East Pakistan. After 23 years under Pakistani rulers, East Pakistan came into conflict with West Pakistan and fought with powerful West Pakistan for freedom. After a bloody nine-month war, East Pakistan entered the world map as a sovereign country. This former East Pakistan is now known as Bangladesh.

The rise of Bangladesh is not an easy concept. An ancient and famous civilization took place here in the past a few thousand years ago. At first, Bangladesh was divided into many parts and many kingdoms were located here. Their numbers were around 6. One of them was Bongo. Many specialists think that from this name Bongo originated the name of Bangladesh. Those parts were ruled by many rulers and many powerful rulers ruled here. In 1610 AD this part was won by the Muslim ruler. After that, many rulers came here and ruled here.

In 1757 after the defeat of Nauyab Muhammad Shiraz Uddaula, the British extended their colonial rule over Bangla, Bihar and Orissa. That was the beginning of the British rule in the Indian subcontinent and they ruled for around 200 years. After the defeat of that Polashi war, the British East India Company took full control of the Indian subcontinent. They gained a monopoly trading advantage in India and established a colonial system here. So Bangladesh was not in its current form. As time passed, the British Empire weakened and its colonies became independent. At that time, the great leader of the Indian subcontinent spoke out for its independence, and as a result, the great birth of Pakistan and India in world history occurred. Bangladesh becomes part of Pakistan under the name of East Pakistan on the basis of religion.

The beginning of Pakistan was on the basis of the same religion. But with the time change, West Pakistan started discriminating against people from East Pakistan. Then the center of Pakistan was situated in the west of Pakistan. As a result, West Pakistan got all the advantages and foreign aid and all the time that East Pakistan was deprived of. At first, West Pakistan tried to make Urdu the national language of Pakistan. This made East Pakistan more frustrated and angry. In 1952 a historic movement called Akhushe February took place. This movement was the seed of the birth of Bangladesh. After that different time, a different incident made a good way for the independence of Bangladesh. Such as: Establishment of Awami League, Sheikh Muzibor Rahman 6 Point Resolution, Agortola Fake Conspiracy Case. Finally, the Awami League won the 1970 elections. That made politics more interesting. On the night of March 26, the Pakistani armed forces attacked the general population of East Pakistan. That was a remarkable night in the history of Bangladesh.

That night, Sheikh Muzibur Rahman prepared a declaration of independence for Bangladesh. That night he was arrested and taken to West Pakistan. The next morning, the then East Pakistan Army Commander Shahid Zia Ur Rahman delivered the statement speech delivered by Sheikh Muzibur Rahman. Zia Ur Rahman made that declaration of Independence on behalf of Shaykh Muzibur Rahman. From that moment the real liberation war of Bangladesh started. People from all corners came forward to liberate their homes from the Pakistani army. On April 17, the government of Bangladesh was made. This government strengthened the war. On December 16, 1971, Bangladesh got respect as a newborn country on the world map. Some 30 needy people sacrificed their lives to achieve the independence of the country.

The birth of Bangladesh was not a very easy task. After sacrificing a lot of life we got our valuable independence. We will never forget his great sacrifice. We will not forget the great contribution of great leaders like: Sheikh Muzibur Rahman, Shahid Zia Ur Rahman, Commander in Chief of Mukti Bahini Ataul Gani Osmani, great four leaders. Their combined contribution is the result of today’s independent Bangladesh.
