City Information: The large civil parish city of Woking, Surrey is located in the South East region of England in the sovereign state of the United Kingdom with an estimated population of 62,796. The city has a prominent claim to fame as the home of the world famous car manufacturer Mclaren and the Mclaren Formula One race cars.

Environment: The City Council is one of the UK’s leaders in environmentally friendly innovation. Electricity is supplied by a combination of solar and hydrogen fuel cells connected to a separate distribution network. Sustainable community energy systems provide heat and power continuously in the event that the normal public power grid fails. This successful initiative reduced the city’s total carbon emissions by 77%.

Entertainment: Chertsey Road is the ultimate haven for pubs, restaurants and bars. New Victoria Theatre, one of the largest theaters outside the London area, plays host to excellent theater groups such as the Royal National Theatre, Peter Hall and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Transport: Woking has excellent transport services in the form of rail, road, bus and canal connections to major and local destinations including London Waterloo, Guildford, Gatwick, Byfleet, Camberley, Kingston, Ripley and Staines. Bus services run every half hour to Gatwick Airport Bus Station. Even people who suffer from transportation disadvantages are served by a community transportation service known as The Bustler.
