In 1953, Fuji Heavy Industries was established in Japan under the leadership of its general manager, Kenji Kita. A year later, Subaru was established as one of the divisions of the company that could be engaged in the development and manufacture of automobiles. It is based in Japan in Gunma.
Subaru was introduced to the US in 1968 and was first headquartered in Philadelphia until it was acquired by FHI in 1986. In 1989 Subaru entered into a partnership with Isuzu and formed a factory in Indiana where Subaru Legacy and Isuzu Rodeo they were the first offered in the US market.
It was also in 1968 that the Japanese government enacted a new law that required auto companies to merge. This was aimed at creating a common and healthy relationship in terms of progress, manufacturing and competition between the various makes and models. Nissan, Toyota, Isuzu and Standard Motors are among the companies that have had shares owned by this division of Fuji Heavy Industries.
The most loved model that Subaru is known for is the Impreza WRX. It is often used in rally driving and is among the most efficient cars on the market. Toyota Motor Corporation owns about 16% of the business and is currently its partial partner for development, production and distribution. Subaru is also famous for its consistent use of 4WD and all-wheel drive technology in its transmission and application of boxer engines. They have also been able to steadily develop cars that used turbocharged boxer engines; these have been able to prove that even when you need a passenger car, even now it can give you that extra oomph you need to have. They have been in a position to combine effectiveness, functionality and comfort within the designs they have developed.
